Olsson Associates, an engineering design firm headquartered in Lincoln, will celebrate its new location with a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 2. The event will begin at 4 p.m. in the first floor plaza area (north side of the building). Featured speakers will include Mayor Chris Beutler, Olsson President Brad Strittmatter and Zach Wiegert, President and CEO of Tetrad Property Group. Several members of the Lincoln City Council, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Blackbird Architects and Sampson Construction will also attend the event.
In late August, Olsson Associates moved from its 1111 Lincoln Mall address to 601 P St. Olsson occupies the second and third floors of the four-story building. The move affected more than 200 employees, and it’s the first office to open in the West Haymarket.
360 Architecture of Kansas City was the principal designer of the building in partnership with Davis Design of Lincoln and Blackbird Studio, also of Kansas City. Building owners Tetrad Property Group and Olsson Associates were active in the design process from start to finish. Olsson provided all civil, mechanical, electrical and geotechnical engineering; land surveying; and construction inspection services for the design and construction. Tetrad Property Group was the developer of the project, coordinated the redevelopment agreement within the West Haymarket subdivision and provided project management services during construction. Sampson Construction was the general contractor for the project.
Olsson Associates was founded in Lincoln by John E. Olsson in 1956 and provides engineering consulting services. From humble beginnings of just a handful of employees, Olsson Associates has grown to employ 900 nationwide, including more than 200 in its Lincoln office. The Lincoln office employs engineers, scientists, surveyors, administrative support and the firm’s corporate leadership and business operations staff.
