Olsson Associates, a full-service engineering design firm, will provide services for a state-of-the-art baseball facility to be built on a 239-acre site just west of Camdenton, Missouri. Labeled “America’s Baseball Resort,” the facility will be located off Highway 54 near State Highway J, at 630 Camping Paradise Road. Olsson Associates will provide multiple engineering and design services for the project.
“Olsson Associates is excited to be part of the project,” said Jared Rasmussen, team leader for Olsson’s Land Development team. “We’re proud to be on the team that is helping to create such a unique family oriented attraction for the Ozarks region.”
The project features nine state-of-the-art baseball fields, a two-story fieldhouse with retail store, kitchen and bar areas, satellite restrooms and concessions, an amphitheater, batting practice cages, a spacious playground and RV and customer parking. Olsson’s design studio worked with the Springfield office to provide the design character the owner was trying to achieve.
"The site layout was completely reconfigured to more appropriately pair age groups, said Darren Varner, lead designer for the project. “Drink rails, a unique field geometry offering wide angle spectator viewing along with a home plate berm seating wall terrace will make the field venues memorable. A central amphitheater lawn and Ozarks themed plaza was a bonus feature discovered with the client that takes full advantage of the positioning of the new fieldhouse.”
The baseball fields will have design features that include grass outfields and artificial turf infields, bullpens, wide-angle spectator seating, seating terraces, standing rail fencing and sports lighting to allow for games to be played at night. Future plans include building an additional eight baseball fields plus two multipurpose turf fields for football, soccer and lacrosse.
Ballparks of the Ozarks is scheduled to open in the summer of 2017. Intending to provide the ultimate family oriented baseball resort experience, the facility will host tournaments, league play and sports camps and clinics.
