As part of an ongoing commitment to the community, Olsson Associates has joined forces with several organizations to make a difference in the lives of Kansas City citizens. United Way, the Flint Hills Breadbasket’s Adopt-a-Family, and now the Drumm Farm Center for Children are all charities that Olsson’s Kansas City region supports.
The Drumm Farm offers on-site housing for families who provide foster care for youth from infant to 18 years of age. Families who live on campus are licensed, certified, and committed to helping place children in safe, stable, loving homes with families. Currently, Drumm Farm provides services to approximately 30 children with a goal of having 100 children housed at the center within the next 10 years. The children come from various locations in Missouri, and the center is supported by donors on both sides of the state line.
Drumm Farm is unique in many ways. Below are just a few highlights:
- The children on campus participate in gardening and care for animals such as chickens, goats, and a donkey named Dude. They also operate a seasonal farmer’s market that is open to the public. Not only is this a great connection to the environment, it also teaches the children valuable life skills.
- Drumm Farm offers counseling services where staff therapists work to provide a full continuum of care.
- For young adults over the age of 18 who have lived in foster care but have aged out of the system with no place to go, Drumm Farm offers a program of on-campus housing and a network of support to these young adults through this transition.
We’ve committed our Kansas City offices to help support Drumm Farm in a variety of ways. If you would like to help us reach our fundraising efforts, you can donate electronically by clicking here. We’ll be sure to post updates as we continue to grow our relationship and commitment to Drumm Farm.
