Eric Nordhues is the group leader for Olsson's Non-destructive Testing (NDT) team. An Olsson employee for 15 years, Eric has been providing NDT services since he joined Olsson. Here, he shares a few of his thoughts on the importance of Olsson's NDT services.

Eric NordhuesWhat attracted you to this line of work?

It was the concept of using the different types of testing methods, such as ultrasound, radiography, magnetic particle, and liquid dye penetrant, to test materials without destroying it. Having that knowledge and the know-how to be able to utilize those methods was interesting to me.

What has been your most challenging project?

It was a coal-fired power plant in Nebraska City where we were performing quality assurance. It was very challenging based on the wide range of inspection codes that were being utilized due to the project’s significant complexity. It was a very good project, as it definitely opened up new opportunities to provide additional services to the client.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

I enjoy the positive responses we get from clients after we finish their projects and they are happy with the results.

How does Olsson demonstrate that it is the expert in NDT testing?

When we serve our clients, our main focus is the quality of NDT services we provide. We demonstrate this in two ways. Primarily, we deliver superior expertise, which means clients can expect us to provide any specialty service they need. Second, we offer excellent communication and timely responses to challenges, which allows us to build solid partnerships with our clients as we successfully complete their projects.
