The Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) has recently released a letter explaining the financial assistance available to eligible community water systems for engineering report services for the 2014 calendar year. The purpose of MDNR’s funding is to provide communities with the first step toward implementing changes to their water system.
Aging water systems can have a difficult time maintaining technical function and capacity. This includes compliance with the National Primary Drinking Water Regulations and Missouri Public Drinking Water Regulations. MDNR is offering assistance to help your system maintain its viability and/or implement needed changes.
Please note that this is not a loan program, but rather a grant. Awardees are offered up to 90 percent of the cost necessary to hire an engineering firm to prepare this report. Furthermore, disadvantaged water communities have the opportunity to obtain 100 percent reimbursement. MDNR’s water grant funding is a win-win for numerous communities throughout Missouri.
Each interested community water system must complete MDNR’s application and provide required supporting documentation by October 20, 2014. If your community water system is interested in determining whether it meets the minimum eligibility criteria, please contact a representative of Olsson’s Public Infrastructure team at 417.890.8802 or 816.361.1177. Olsson is extremely knowledgeable with MDNR’s grant funding and can easily assist you with the process of applying for these available funds.
