Billed as the “ultimate youth baseball experience,” a proposed $24 million youth baseball facility, called Ballparks of America, will take over one of Branson, Missouri’s, known landmarks. To help bring the project to fruition, Olsson will provide numerous engineering and design services for this one-of-a-kind baseball facility, which will be constructed at the Factory Merchants Branson Mall—also known as the Red Roof Mall.
“Olsson is excited to be a part of the project,” said Jared Rasmussen, group leader for Olsson’s Land Development team. “We’re proud to be on the team that is helping create such a unique attraction for the Branson community.”
The project features 16 ball diamonds that are replicas of famous fields like Busch Stadium, Wrigley Field, Tiger Stadium, and Fenway Park. The existing structures at the mall would be repurposed for team dormitories, restaurants, and retail and entertainment venues. The facility will host events that could draw between 400 and 600 families a week.
The first of several phases calls for developing five fields and repurposing existing buildings onsite. Olsson is providing all site civil engineering, landscape design, specialty lighting design, survey, utility design, and construction administration. Construction is scheduled to begin later this year. The opening game is expected in the summer of 2016.
